Greetings,
It’s been an exciting week around Gregeration X! Along with releasing Pax Machina, my oldest son graduates from high school today! It’s been a whirlwind week with work (the day job), graduation prep, and keeping up with a book release. Overall, I just feel grateful for my son’s accomplishment, and the support of family, friends, and all of you.
If you haven’t ordered or started reading Pax Machina yet, this is a great weekend to start! I’m excited to hear what you think about it. Please use the contact information at the bottom of this newsletter to reach out and let me know. It would be great to see some of pics of Pax Machina on your Kindles or in paperback. Please feel free to post on my Facebook page, or Instagram be sure to tag them with #gregerationx or #mechhaven.
When you finish Pax Machina or Duel of Destiny, and if you enjoyed them, please consider leaving a review and rating.
Mechhaven Missives
Besides all the promotion for Pax Machina, I’ve started editing the next novella, Unexpected Contact. It’s an adventure featuring TH3R and Tala Matapang from Duel of Destiny and guest stars a character introduced in Pax Machina. I’m hoping to send it to my beta readers in another week or so and then get it off to my editor. Unexpected Contact will be available in August.
The Music of Mechhaven
A lot of authors listen to music when they write. I’m no different. Music has a way of relaxing my mind and helping me get into the flow of the writing. I look for songs/albums that help convey a sense of tone and them to whatever scene I’m writing. After awhile, I find I keep coming back to the same few songs or albums for each story. I almost always choose music without lyrics, or if they do have lyrics, they need to be chants, or sung in a language I’m not familiar with. If I think too hard about the lyrics, it draws me out of the story. When writing Pax Machina, I found myself coming back to two albums.
The first album was Flatlanders by Revolt Production Music. The second album was Eclipticon by Colossal Trailer Music. You should be able to find them on most music streaming services. Here’s a link if you’d like to try them out: Pax Machina playlist on Spotify
Featured Promotion
This edition’s featured promotion is from Joe Vasicek. Joe was one of the first indie authors I discovered in January 2020 when I was looking into the indie writing scene. I read his book Star Wanderers and the one featured in this promotion, Bringing Stella Home. I also subscribed to his newsletter and learned a lot from it. Needless to say I enjoyed both books and it’s a great honor to feature him in my newsletter. Please take a look at:
Bringing Stella Home by Joe Vasicek
Hard times bring out the greatness in men, and those who give all are changed forever.
When James got stuck with dockyard duty while Ben and Stella get to go planetside without him, he never thought he might never see his older brother and sister again. But shortly after they leave, a Hameji battle fleet invades the star system, turning it into a deadly war zone.
As James flees with his father on the family starship, he can only look on powerlessly as the Hameji reduce their homeworld to molten slag. But Ben and Stella are not dead. When James learns that they’ve been captured and enslaved, he vows to rescue them, no matter the cost.
James isn’t a warrior. He’s never killed a man before, and doesn’t know if he could. But if that’s what it takes to save his brother and sister, he’ll become whatever he needs to beāeven if there’s no going back.
Group Promotions
As I’ve mentioned in previous newsletters, these promotions are authors working together to help promote each other’s works and increase our newsletter subscribers. Please take a look at these promos and see if there are any free short stories, novellas, or books that you’d like to read.
