My Musings-Holiday Edition
We are fully in the midst of the holiday season, with only two weeks until Christmas, and three weeks until New Year’s! I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe and healthy. I have a busy work week ahead until I get a two week break. November and December were much busier than I expected (in many ways), so this time off will give me some uninterrupted writing time to concentrate on putting the final touches on the first draft of On Darkhaven Forged. Other than that, I’m not making any plans, though I expect my family and I will partake in the usual holiday traditions and festivities.
For those of you working this holiday season, either delivering all the packages, working in restaurants, or other service industries, thank you for your hard work and dedication. I truly appreciate all that you do. For a number of years I worked in the retail and restaurant industry, so I know what it is like to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
I hope you’re all able to spend time with those who are special to you or at least doing the things that bring you joy!
This will be the last Gregeration X newsletter of 2021. After sending this out, I’ll be turning all of my attention to wrapping up On Darkhaven Forged. Also, since the holidays fall on Saturday this year, I decided it would be a good idea to wait until January 8th to send out the next edition. That being said, I will be sending out an email on 12/14 announcing a special promotion. Please read below for more details.
A couple of quick notes:
- My son and I binge watched Arcane on Netflix. I had no expectations going in and thoroughly enjoyed the animation and the story.
- I started watching season three of Lost in Space on Netflix. I’m two episodes in so far, and I’m looking forward to watching more. Lost in Space is one of those series that had a big impact on me in my early years. Though the new series is a lot different than the original, I think it captures the spirit of exploration and adventure that I remember.
- Has anyone been watching The Wheel of Time? I’ve watched the first four episodes and so far I like what I’m seeing for the most part. I actually started relistening to The Wheel of Time audiobooks. I started with New Spring and will progress through the rest of the series. It will take me quite some time to get through it as the audiobooks are quite long!
What have you watched/read/listened to recently that has you excited? Or, what are you anticipating watching/reading/listening to over the next few weeks?
Mechhaven Missives
- Watch for a limited time special deal on Pax Machina and Mechs and Machinations coming next week!
See below for more details. - By the time you read this, I’ll have hit the 70,000 word mark on the first draft of On Darkhaven Forged. I’m wrapping up the second to last major action scene. From here on out, it’s all action!
- If you’ve read and enjoyed Pax Machina and/or Mechs and Machinations I would very much appreciate it if you left a good rating or review on Amazon. Thank you in advance!

Special Promotion
I wasn’t able to do a Thanksgiving/Black Friday promotion as I had hoped to this year, but instead something better has come along. The ebook version of Pax Machina is going to part of a free IASFA (International Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors) promotion starting on 12/14/2021 and running through 12/18/2021.
If you’ve been waiting for a good deal to hop into the series, this is it. It doesn’t get any better than this! Except for one thing… in the spirit of the season, I’m also running a promotion on Mechs and Machinations, so for five days next week (Tuesday, 12/14/2021 through Saturday, 12/18/2021), both books will be free!
Pax Machina will be part of the IASFA space opera promotion for December that will include at least 16 other books from top-notch authors and established newcomers. This will require an email to sign up and receive all the books. If you don’t want to take part of that promotion, both books will also be free in Amazon (ebooks only). On Tuesday, 12/14/2021, I’ll send a special announcement with the details on how to access the promotion, otherwise you can use the links below:
Mechs and Machinations on Amazon
Please feel free to recommend these books to family and friends if you think they’ll be interested. During the free promotions I won’t make anything on the royalties, but the more people who download and read the books will help with the visibility and overall rank on Amazon which can be very helpful for the books moving forward.
Group Promotions
Just a couple of other group promotions this week. The first are books in Kindle Unlimited. The second are a variety of free novels, novellas, short stories and samples. Take a look, you never know, you might find your new favorite author!
