My Musings
I celebrated a birthday over the last week. It was nothing extravagant, a weekend lunch with my aunt and uncle and a weeknight dinner with my family. This weekend is my niece’s birthday, but I hope to stop by Frank and Son Collectible Show for a little post-birthday indulgence.
My wife and I have been watching the new Netflix series The Sandman. We’ve completed seven out of the ten episodes and can say that both of us were instantly enthralled. It’s easily one of the best programs available to watch today. One episode may be the best episode of television I’ve ever watched. I try not to get over hyped, and I still have a few episodes left to finish, but I definitely think The Sandman is setting a new bar for Fantasy shows.
I think we have some new Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings coming out soon, Fantasy is well represented in the current offerings of speculative fiction.
In terms of reading, I just finished Match Game, Book 14 of the Expeditionary Force Series by Craig Alanson. This has been one of my favorite series to listen to for the last several years. I believe Book 15 will be the last book of the series, so now I’m looking for a new series to begin. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
Mechhaven Missives
- Either later today or definitely by Sunday, I’ll hit 60,000 words completed on Rally Point. This is roughly 60% of the first draft. I finally had some solid writing days over the last two weeks. I feel like my momentum is building once again.
- The fun, but challenging part of Rally Point is bringing together all of the story threads for events that need to happen in Book 4, while also setting up everything that needs to happen in Book 5 and beyond.
- I just wrapped up some scenes with Ajax, Larry, Artie, and Angel and another one with Dennis and Grigori Volkov. Next up, Gladius and Brutus.
