Mechhaven Missives
- Woohoo!!! I’m happy to report that late last night I finished the first draft of Mechhaven Book 4: Rally Point!
- I wrote 7,736 words yesterday to wrap up the story. I’m pretty sure that is the most words I’ve ever written in one day!
- The first draft came in at 100,510 words. My books tend to grow by 5%-10% in the editing process as I fill in details and add scenes. I imagine Rally Point will be closer to 110,000 words by the time I release it.
- What’s next? For this weekend, I rest. Next week, I recharge. Then, next weekend, I’ll dive into the editing process.
- In other Mechhaven news, I received the files for Book 5’s cover! It looks awesome. I’ll share more when I’m ready to reveal the title.
My Musings
It’s hard to believe, but the holidays are rapidly approaching. With the first draft of Rally Point complete, I can no longer ignore the Halloween decorations staring at me, begging to be put away. Part of my “rest” over this weekend will be cleaning, organizing, and otherwise taking care of any chores I’ve neglected while plugging away on Rally Point. As I’m putting the Halloween decorations away, I’ll be pulling out the Christmas lights and decorations. It’s almost time to put those up. Thanksgiving will be here in less than two weeks, and then Christmas will be upon us!
I’ve been able to see a couple of movies over the last month. First up was Black Adam and One Piece Film: Red. I enjoyed both movies. One Piece was a little daunting since I’m still fairly new to the franchise. With over 1,000 episodes in the series (I’m around episode 99), it was interesting seeing how some of the original characters have developed and being introduced to several new ones. Tomorrow we’ll watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Other than the movies above, I’ve been watching Star Wars Andor and the most recent seasons of My Hero Academia, Spy x Family, and Mob Pyscho 100. My son and I squeeze in a couple of episodes of One Piece whenever we get a chance.
Now, I just need to decide on a book to read? I’m feeling like a good Fantasy adventure… any suggestions?
