Where has this year gone? It’s already April 1st! Also known as April Fool’s Day, or as I like to call it, “Don’t Believe Anything You Read Online or on Social Media Day”. Sadly, there are no jokes or pranks from me today (although I thought of a pretty good one this morning). Instead, I’m going through receipts and pulling together forms to meet with my tax preparer this afternoon…It’s that dreaded time of year as well. Since I need to get back to my taxes, here’s a quick update of what I’m watching/reading.
Watching
- As I’ve mentioned before, my family is working our way through One Piece. We are currently in the Marineford Arc. It’s very exciting. When One Piece is firing on all cylinders, it is some of the best, most compelling anime out there. It’s also superb at introducing seemingly unimportant side characters, bringing them back, and using them in surprising ways later on.
- We just finished the most recent season of My Hero Academia with some really poignant episodes. Like One Piece, My Hero Academia really knows how to hit you in the feels.
- I need to finish Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. I have five episodes left. There’s also a new season of Picard out. Season one wasn’t my favorite, so I haven’t watched season two, but I’m hearing season three is really good, so maybe I should give it a try. Any thoughts? Let me know!
Reading
- I’m currently listening to the Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman. I’ve plowed through books one through three in about two weeks. It has been a long time since I’ve listened to a series that quickly. I’m really enjoying it. Here’s a link to it on Amazon (Dungeon Crawler Carl). I’m sure the print books are fine, but I think this is one of those series that shines in Audio format like the Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson. (Please note the two previous links are affiliate links, so if you click on the link and make a purchase, I’ll receive a small referral fee.)
Mechhaven Missives
- Last week I wrapped up one of the final scenes in Rally Point. There’s one more scene that I’d like to add. I’m reviewing the final act of the book to figure out the best place to insert it.
- I’m should wrap up my portion of Rally Point this coming week, before I send to my editor. We just scheduled a short getaway during Spring Break, so I won’t be able to use that week for editing as I had planned. That being said, I will spend some time on our vacation plotting Book 5, so with any luck, I’ll start writing Book 5 sometime in the middle of this month!
