I just read a news article that stated that due to major solar activity, the Northern Lights may be visible in Southern California this weekend (other southern locations, too). I’m pretty unlucky when it comes to witnessing celestial phenomenon, but seeing the aurora borealis is definitely on my “bucket list” and someday I’m planning on traveling north to witness them. However…if nature would like to cooperate and send them south so I can see them, I’m fine with that too! If I see them, I’ll post a pic in the next newsletter. Let me know if you can see them where you live!
This weekend is my “prep” weekend before Comic Con Revolution. I’ll need to inventory and pack all my books, supplies, and make a few updates to my set up from WonderCon. I’ve ordered a couple of cool things I hope arrive before next weekend! It’s also Mother’s Day weekend, so “Happy Mother’s Day” to any mother’s reading this. I’ll be taking my wife and mother-in-law to an early dinner on Sunday. In between convention prep and meals, I’ll squeeze in some extra writing time. As you’ll see below, I’ve been productive!
Comic Con Revolution-Next Weekend!
Next weekend I’ll be at Comic Con Revolution in Ontario, California. This is a cool up-and-coming convention in Southern California. They’ve made a name for themselves by securing great guests. This is probably because of the proximity to the LA area, not too close, and not too far. For me, it’s only a 20 minute drive.
Last year, they had the entire surviving cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This year, they have the big three from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and most if not all, the cast of Star Wars: Rebels. Also, they just announced they have several voice actors from X-Men ‘97! Whether you’re a fan of Comic Cons, or have never been to one, I’d encourage you to come out and see the show. I’d love to meet any readers of this newsletter.
If you’re able to attend, please stop by and say “hi”! I’ll be in the Artists Alley (Table F-3) with a lot of other cool authors, artists, and other creatives. Check out this link for more information:

- Book 5 Update: As I had hoped, I hit 12,053 words written in April! For May, I’m already at 7,000 words and should hit 10,000 this weekend. I’m approaching the 50% mark of Book 5 and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve written eleven of the last fourteen days and I’m hitting over 1000 words a day more often. I’m hoping the reminder of May is just as productive, but I will lose two days next weekend.
- No new Pax Machina audiobook news to share, other than it is coming.

It was supposed to be a mundane assignment on a distant star-post, but Karin and Kitaya soon find themselves in the middle of a dangerous game of politics and power.
The year is 12,000 and the galaxy’s major player and peace-keeper is the Federation of Planets and Star Systems. The STRATTON Space Post, a glorified trading post, is located in a narrow stellar corridor and is run by Fleet personnel.
Karin, a young fleet officer, and Kitaya, a Rimworlder with Caritan roots, are unlikely friends with vastly different backgrounds. Alvin, the prototype AI who runs the STRATTON Space Post, is their third companion. The trading post offers the two a chance to serve together. Stratton lies in a narrow stellar corridor. It’s run by Fleet personnel which makes it a perfect hiding place for Karin and Kitaya. It’s not a starship, but it is a Fleet installation. Service on Stratton Post is entry-level but it qualifies as Fleet service.
Four months into their assignment, a hugely significant event is about to take place on STRATTON, putting Karin and Kitaya in the spotlight and making them targets for those who constantly try to push the Federation into a serious conflict that would lead to an outright war.

Shadowing an intelligence operative on a mission to an archaeological dig might sound like an easy gig. But the dig is behind enemy lines and the G-man is playing his cards close to his chest. For Arthur Fortunato, none of that adds up to good survival odds.
An incursion into an archaeological dig. An easy gig? Ships might fly.
Fire and Sand is a short, action-packed prequel to the Zero-Point Awakening Series: a quirky serialized science-fiction thriller. If you are a fan of page-turning quick reads, you won’t want to miss this one.
