The new year has gotten off to quite an ominous start with two terrorist attacks on the first day, and now this week, devastating wildfires in southern California, specifically the Los Angeles area. And we’re just eleven days into the year!
Thankfully, my family, friends, and I are safe and quite a way from the fire zones… but in SoCal, that can change very quickly. We’ve had some of the same crazy winds here in Riverside County, but that is nothing new…however, once a fire starts (or is started), it can spread quite aggressively and destroy entire communities.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families and their losses suffered from the wildfires in CA and also to those still recovering from the storms and hurricanes in North Carolina and the South.
With at least five more days of high fire danger coming up, let’s hope 2025 eases up in the coming weeks and months!

- Book 5 Progress-I’m sitting around 115,000 words right now. The finale is really shaping up. The action is off the charts! This was the first week back to work after Winter Break and I dealt with an asthma attack, a Covid diagnosis, not to mention a bunch of other work stuff (what a week!). Overall, I’m feeling pretty decent, so I plan to write quite a bit this weekend since I probably won’t be going out. This should give me time to knock out two or three more chapters.
- Even if there’s a little bit left to wrap up call draft one finished as of January 17th, since once I start editing, changes I make will impact the ending. I’ll start editing sometime the week of January 20th.
- I will be at Pasadena Comic-Con Sunday, January 26th…as long as it is not canceled because to the fires, but I think it should be fine by then. It’s at the Pasadena Convention Center and opens at 9:00 AM. If you live close by, come check it out, get your books signed, or buy some more books! I’ll know my booth number by the next newsletter.

Space Cadet Green shows a new Rainbow of Warriors how to sneak.
In a covert survival test that pushes nerves and grit to their limits, Space Cadet Green has lived in the wilderness alone, naked and with good or gear for a week, only to have to outwit a rainbow of elite Warrior Girls who live for the win. Mud-caked and sun-baked, she inches through a field watch by sniper instructors, a silent serpent among blades of grass. The stakes? Proving herself worthy of the Space Girl mantle against impossible odds.
Until next time, have fun and read a lot of books!
