As we head in to Thanksgiving week, I just wanted to say I am thankful for all of you. Writing, even though I don’t do it full time (yet), has been one of my dreams since I was very young. So that I get to write and all of you somehow are engaged in that pleases me beyond belief. Thank you all!
In my last newsletter, I mentioned I enjoy the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. This week I noticed that one of my neighbors already had their Christmas decorations set up and turned on. Normally I’d say anything up before Thanksgiving was “disqualified”… but this year I’m like, you know what, let’s have fun and celebrate!
I usually start listening to Christmas music around Thanksgiving. I have a pretty eclectic taste in music ranging from classics by Bing Crosby, Andy Williams, and Frank Sinatra, to Mannheim Steamroller, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Straight No Chaser. Every year I try to find something new that I haven’t listened to before. I’ve found Lindsey Stirling, King & Country, Gary Hoey, and Barenaked Ladies by looking for new holiday music.
I love hearing different renditions of the classic carols. I’m particularly fond of Little Drummer Boy, Carol of the Bells, and Do You Hear What I Hear. So far this year I haven’t found anything new (new to me) or exciting, so I need your help.
Let me know what your favorite holiday songs are and if you have a particular singer or group. Bonus points if it’s something new to me 🙂
Note: Somehow I skipped a week when I set up my newsletter schedule and I already have some featured authors and promotions that I signed up for that I can’t change, so my next newsletter will come out on 12/14 instead of 12/7. It will be one extra week until my next newsletter, but by then I hope to have some cool news on Book 5.
Mechhaven Missives
- I’ve been dancing around fully committing to writing the final battle for a while now. As of last weekend, I’m happy to say that I’m now fully engaged in the battle and Mechhaven will never be the same!
- Also last weekend, I finally hit some word count milestones that seemed very far away. I still have one more target that I’d like to hit by Thanksgiving weekend. If I do, I’ll report on it in the next newsletter. After that, the big push will be to finish the first draft by Christmas.
- I’m now confirmed (paid the invoice) for WonderCon 2025 this March. I’ll send more details as they solidify.
- I also signed up for Author Nation in Las Vegas for November 2025. Once they send out information for their Reader and Author event, I’ll sign up for that as well. I’ll provide more details once they become available.
