September has come and gone. Now that October is here we’ll be celebrating the imminent release of Mechs and Machinations Mechhaven Book 2! If you haven’t had a chance to read Pax Machina yet, this is a great month to do it. Mechs and Machinations picks up about six months after the end of Pax Machina, and from there it takes off! I had a lot of fun writing Book 2 and I hope you have fun reading it.
I received some fun feedback from my season related question last week. I always like hearing from you. Please feel free to message me. Email is the best way to reach me, but the rest of my contact information is listed below.
The question for this month is do you have any favorite films you like to watch or books you like to read this time of year?
For me, October through December is the time of year I like to watch or read (but more likely watch) The Lord of the Rings and/or the Harry Potter series. I’m not sure why, but over the last several years that’s been the trend. We’ll see if it holds up again this year.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Mechhaven Missives
- I received my editor’s feedback for Mechs and Machinations. I’m combing my way through his suggestions and applying his edits as needed. One nice piece of feedback that’s always great to hear from someone not related to you was that he enjoyed the story!
- I’ve received the final cover art files for Mechhaven Book 3. Stay tuned for the October 16th newsletter where I’ll be revealing the title and cover for Book 3.
- Mechhaven Book 3 is progressing nicely. At the time of this writing, I’m approximately one third of the way through the first draft. My goal is to finish by the end of the year. I have some scheduled time off in November, but I have a feeling I’ll continue to hit my daily word count goals even while on vacation.
- I now have the option to create hardcovers on Amazon. I’ve always wanted to put out hardcover versions so I could have copies for my personal collection and for family and friends who’ve asked about it. If you’re interested in possibly purchasing a hard cover version of Pax Machina or Mechs and Machinations in the near future, please send me a message and let me know. I’ll be doing it regardless eventually, but if there’s a lot of interest I can definitely bump it up to higher on the priority list.
- Questions??? If you have any general, non-spoilery type questions regarding any of the Mechhaven books or novellas, send them my way. I’d love to include some questions and answers in the upcoming newsletters.
Mechs and Machinations (Mechhaven Book 2)
(Minor Spoilers if you haven’t finished Pax Machina)
Some wounds never heal. Galactic machinations wait for no one.
The Battle of Mechhaven shocked the galaxy. As high-ranking representatives from the four governments descend upon Mechhaven to honor the fallen, the surviving defenders must put their healing on hold to deal with demanding allies, unexpected challenges, and new enemies.
A secret mission calls several heroes back into service. Unexpected refugees threaten to drag Mechhaven into conflict with the Corporate Protectorate, which the rest of the galaxy wants no part of. With some of her best fighters off-world, should Misty lead the mechs into another battle? What are the consequences if she doesn’t? What other machinations are at play?
Mechs and Machinations (Mechhaven Book 2) continues and expands the epic space opera, sci-fi adventure, started in Pax Machina (Mechhaven Book 1). If you love sci-fi adventure, space opera and 1980s style anime, you’ll love Mechs and Machinations!
Available on October 25, 2021. Pre-Order Today!
Reminder
I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be participating in my first “live” signing event in Las Vegas on November 12, 2021. If you live in the area or feel like traveling, below is just a small sample of the authors of all genres that will be taking part.
My books will be displayed at a table with newer authors, so I don’t have a set schedule. If you’re interested in meeting me or getting a book signed, please let me know and we can make arrangements to meet. I’ll keep you posted on additional details in the next few newsletters.
For more information, you can join the Vegas Author Signing 2021Facebook Group.

There are millions of books on Amazon. If you throw in the other retailers such as Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, there are even more. Being “seen” is a challenge for veteran and new authors alike. The promotions below are authors working with other authors to help promote each other to their readers.
Some books featured below are short stories or novellas, some are compete novels, some are on sale, and others are free to read if you’re subscribed to Kindle Unlimited. I truly appreciate the time you take to support these authors. It’s great if you can click on the links, but even better if you find something you like and download it. Please take a look at the selections below. Maybe you’ll discover your new favorite author!

Sellenria: The Starship and the Citadel
It came as a shock to archaeologist Stenn Gremm to find that his ancestor had been a warlock.
As a scientist, Stenn didn’t believe in magic. But when a monster from legend ground his equipment into dust, Stenn was forced into roles for which he hadn’t prepared. Apprentice to an assassin for one, advisor to the heir to the throne for another. When archaeological digs were conducted via telepresence, he didn’t expect to get dirt under his nails and blood on his hands. Now his fate hinges on his ability to embrace his greatest role: the new warlock.
Readers have called this a cross between Star Trek and Lord of the Rings, as well as a tale of self-discovery, set in a journey through a fantastic land. All legends have a kernel of truth, but the full story can be surprisingly different.
