My Musings
In honor of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for reading my books and subscribing to this newsletter. A year ago I had just finished writing Mechs and Machinations and was working on editing Pax Machina. I didn’t even have a newsletter! Since then I’ve published two novels and two novellas. I have another novel about 60% complete and a novella about 50% complete. Without all of you reading the books and supporting me, I couldn’t have done it. Thank you!
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, my kids were off from school for the whole week and I took the day before Thanksgiving off. We visited the Frank and Son Collectible Show (think Comic-Con, but vendors only…no panels). My kids have been saving up their money and were looking for some specific toys. They walked away with some cool stuff. I may or may not have treated myself to something special also! 🙂
Thanksgiving Day was spent with family. I cooked all day and we ate too much, but it was fun. I was finally able to finish watching Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2199. Now I’ll need to getting going on Space Battleship Yamato 2202. I’ll try to finish this one in less time.
On Friday, me and the boys put up Christmas lights and our Christmas tree while my wife was out shopping with her mother. In the evening, we watched Ghostbusters: Afterlife. I won’t do a full review, but if you want to watch a good movie, go see it. You needn’t have watched the previous movies. However, if you have seen the previous movies and have any sort of nostalgia for them, definitely go see it!
At the writing of this newsletter (Friday night), there are two more days left in the holiday weekend. I hope to have some more fun family time, read a little, watch some more movies or catch up on some series I may have missed, generally rest up, and write some more. The next three weeks before the winter break at my regular job are going to be very busy, so I need to cram in the fun and the rest to carry me through to the new year!
And just in case you needed a bit of fun, here’s our family beagle preparing for his Thanksgiving meal!
Mechhaven Missives
- A couple of weeks ago when Unexpected Contact was free for five days, it climbed up the Amazon Free charts to #9 in the Galactic Empire Science Fiction eBook category and #10 in Military Science Fiction. I definitely wasn’t expecting those kinds of results, but it feels pretty good. Thank you everyone for downloading it!
- In regards to On Darkhaven Forged, I’ve hit 60,000 words.
- I still plan to complete the first draft by the end of the year.
- I’m at the point in the story where there’s a lot of action, so it takes a little longer to stage and write all the scenes, but so far it’s pretty epic.
- I’ll have some more cool news to report in the next newsletter.

I truly appreciate the time you take to support these authors. It’s great if you can click on the links, but even better if you find something you like and download it. The pleasure has a name: Arun Dyem. She is as beautiful as she is crafty, having risen from the ranks of sex industry to lead her people in a ‘velvet’ revolt.
As the champion of her people’s rights and freedom, she is relentless in lobbying the Galactic Confederation for a treaty that will bring Hettamir protection. It is the last thing the warlords of New Hebrides want.
Parv watches the preparations for the grand event, even as he tries to shake off the feeling that something…or everything is going to go wrong. He finally has what he’s always wanted—a woman he loves and means to keep. She is his whole life, his destiny. And he will fight to his last breath to hold on to his future….
