Just some quick updates this week… as of the writing of my last newsletter, my family and I were off to watch Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. We thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was probably the best of the Transformers movies…except for maybe the Cyberton sequence of Bumblebee.
The sun is out in SoCal again and I’m actually eager to get out in it. It’s been quite some time since my skin has generated some vitamin D, so I hope to ease my way into it over the next few days. I’ll be careful not to get sunburned and not to blind anyone!
My youngest son and I are attending Anime Expo in Los Angeles next weekend. It will be a full dive into Anime culture… we’re even cosplaying! It will be a nice quick break between wrapping up edits on Mechhaven Book 4: Rally Point and the summer rush that is always part of my regular job. I’ll post some pictures in the next newsletter.
Mechhaven Missives
- I’m about 10 chapters and a few scattered notes away from completing my review of my editor’s suggestions for Rally Point. At my current pace, I’ll have the editing wrapped up by the end of next week. Following that, I’ll begin formatting the story, writing the blurb, and preparing for promotions.
- While I’m not actively working on Book 5 at the moment, I’m generating tons of ideas as I progress through my edits. I can’t wait to get back into writing. There are going to be some crazy awesome scenes in Book 5!

Disgraced. On the run. Hunted by the law, the criminal underworld, and probably a few aliens to boot. For most folks it’s a disaster. For ex-Star Corps pilot John MacAlister, it’s just another Thursday.
Since being dishonorably discharged from the Star Corps, pilot John MacAlister has been struggling to make ends meet with less-than-legal cargo runs across the cosmos. He’s desperate to get his life back, but every time John thinks he’s found that “one last job,” some new disaster lands him back at square one.
After crashing his ship on the Moon, John finds himself in debt to a shady lawyer who makes him an offer he can’t refuse: Locate teenage runaway Meryl Amelson and bring her back – or rot in jail. John knows whatever they want her for can’t be good – but what choice does he have? At least that’s how he feels until he meets his target.

Convicted killer Mahdi will do anything to escape the living death that is Sisyphus…
What’s worse than a death sentence? Try being condemned to Sisyphus, a world where even the grass is out to get you. And where the locals are sentient tarantulas – nine foot tall sentient tarantulas.
For nine years convicted killer Mahdi Koshtar has weaseled, worried, and lied to earn a spot on the prison’s early release list. Now, her reprieve is at hand.
Maybe.
If she can convince her arachno-loving boss to let her go.
But only one of them can go – and her boss has other ideas.
