Gregeration X Newsletter July 22, 2023-Big News-Rally Point Release Date!

Exciting news below… but first some dramatic tension…

I love technology. I hate technology.

As I near the final editing and formatting processes for Rally Point, my computer has become progressively slower and less reliable. It hangs up for seconds to minutes between mouse clicks and simple changes. Other times it randomly restarts. Over the years, it’s been a workhorse of a machine, and I can’t complain. But as you can imagine, these emerging problems were not only frustrating, but as I’m reaching the end of a major project, a little panic inducing!

To avoid a catastrophic failure and a complete work stoppage, I preemptively bought a new computer. I opted to go with a laptop to give me a little more flexibility in terms of where and how I work. This will be helpful, especially since I’m planning to do more personal appearances in the next year. The problem with downsizing is that I’m losing a lot of storage space. I’m still shifting files from the “big” computer to external hard drives and cloud services and only keeping the bare minimum on the laptop.

So far, so good, but the process is a little slow. I believe I avoided a major disaster, but I lost some time over the last week or two. Good News though, as you’ll read in the Mechhaven Missives below, I still accomplished a few things this week!

Mechhaven Missives

August 24, 2023, is the release date for Mechhaven Book 4: Rally Point! The ebook is available for pre-order on Amazon if you would like to order it now. Like the other Mechhaven books, it will also be enrolled in Kindle Unlimited. If you prefer a physical copy, I hope to have the paperback version ready to go by that date as well. The description of the story has a few minor spoilers for Book 3, so I won’t post it in this newsletter. If you want to read the summary or pre-order it, please click here.

There’s still a bit of work to be done to finalize Rally Point, but that will wrap up in the next few weeks. Before I dive back into Book 5, I have a Mechhaven-related novella I want to finish. It is about halfway done and already has a cover, so I’m working on wrapping that up so I can release it this Autumn. I’m having a lot of fun with the story and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you.

I have a couple of other projects in the works, one I hope to share with you really soon that is very cool! I’ll share more news on that one by late August.
