When I sent out the last newsletter, I was just starting my vacation. The highlight of which was a 4-night cruise. It’s been 26 years since my last cruise, and I have to say, I forgot how nice they could be! I tuned out from everything: work, writing, the world. I focused on hanging out with family and just relaxing. I got some much needed sun, fresh air, rest, and even cracked open a book to read for pleasure!!!
Transformers One. If you like robots, mechs, sci-fi, or are a fan of Transformers, go see this movie.
The initial trailer focused on humor, making it seem like a silly kid’s movie. This doesn’t do the movie justice. While there is some humor, its focus is on the origins of the Transformers, more specifically the developing friendship (and eventual dissolution of) between Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) and D-16 (Megatron). The movie is a fun adventure with some cool action scenes dealing with a tunnel collapse, a race, and of course, the final battle. There’s a mystery that needs to be solved and plenty of betrayals to be had. I want to encourage as many people as possible to see this movie. It’s much better and deeper than any of the Michael Bay movies and even though the Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts movies are moving in the right direction, Transformers One lets the story and action potential of the Transformers really shine.
The link below is to the second trailer, which does a better job portraying the movie.
If you watch it and like it, let me know!

- Refreshed from vacation, I’m back at work on By Archangel’s Light. I wrote several evenings this week.
- I’m exploring an earlier part in the story and filling in some important gaps that will inform the rest of the book. It impacts the ending quite a bit, so I thought it was important to get that done now rather than later.
- I don’t have any other obligations this weekend, so I’m looking forward to some nice blocks of writing time!

Extinction is only the beginning . . .
Accelerated evolution ‘Manifold’ technology has changed everything – dead worlds and asteroids bloom with strange new life.
People flocked to colonise the new wilderness only barely to survive obliteration by a Manifold experiment gone wrong. Like so many others, Bryn watched his people burn that day. Unlike the rest, Bryn finds himself hailed as the lone hero who saved his species. Only he knows better.
Bryn’s grim new life of solitude in the depths of the wilderness is shattered when the past comes calling. His presence is requested on the ringworld Wilderness Five.
There, at the edge of inhabited space, the oldest and richest man in the System has expended every drop of his money and influence to launch the most daring Manifold experiment ever attempted.

He’s a disgraced Star Corps pilot with a robot partner fresh off the junk heap. She’s a runaway with no future. And they’re the good guys.
Since being dishonorably discharged from the Star Corps, pilot John MacAlister has struggled to make ends meet with less-than-legal cargo runs across the cosmos. He’s desperate to get his life back, but every time John thinks he’s found that “one last job,” some new disaster lands him back at square one.
After an ill-fated smuggling run ends with a disastrous crash landing on the moon (and an even more disastrous landing in the local lunar lockup), John is offered a choice: rot in a Galactic Union prison forever or locate a teenage runaway named Ril and bring her back to the authorities.
